The University of Central Florida is excited to partner with Central Florida's classical professional theater, the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival. In its capacity as a professional theater utilizing actors, directors and designers from across the nation, the Festival creates a hallmark of artistic excellence for Orlando and offers an unusually fine cultural opportunity for our citizens and guests. The partnership between UCF and the Festival is multifaceted. As well as supporting the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival on philosophical grounds and designating representatives to the Festival's Board of Directors, the University of Central Florida provides a portion of the fiscal underpinnings of the Festival. The Festival's Artistic Director also teaches classes and serves as a faculty member for
UCF Conservatory Theatre. In return, the Festival provides a thriving internship program which gives UCF students the opportunity to fulfill UCF undergraduate BFA requirements. The Festival also offers technical and administrative Independent Study classes which give students experience with the professional world of unions, business and theater. UCF Faculty and students have also had the chance to participate as actors, designers, and directors for various festival projects, adding professional credits to their university experience. University of Central Florida students, faculty, alumni and administrators have donated their time, energy and money to the Festival, and for that, the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival is truly appreciative. |
