About the play: The primary theme of this play is that in the midnight black confusion of our lives while there is much darkness, there are also pin-prick stars of wisdom that patiently shine, waiting for us to recognize them as guides. What we choose to focus on determines our fate and more significantly re-aligns our very world with our choice. It is titled The Eclipse as much for the physical event as because each character is dealing with a personal darkness which either is or threatens to eclipse their inner light. About our reading: This is the actors' first time reading thru the script together. In a full out production a lot of the dialogue would be Signed (using ASL, American Sign Language) and some would be only signed. Our reader of stage directions will occasionally read what is being signed when a character is speaking at the same time, especially if what they are speaking is NOT what they are signing. She will also let the audience know when conversations are happening only in Sign Language. I have encouraged my wonderful actors to simply have fun and to go with what they feel. Thank you all for coming. Rich Width |
