Auditions by APPOINTMENT in Orlando AEA: Orlando FL SPT (approval, tier and salary level pending. Expected minimum weekly salaries: SPT 9 shows: $487; SPT 10 shows: $538.)

Please prepare two brief contrasting monologues of your own choosing, or from any of the plays in the upcoming 2007-08 season. Perusal scripts will be available at the Theatre offices. Text need NOT be memorized. Please bring FOUR sets of your stapled-together headshot / resume.

2007-08 Season

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS by William Shakespeare. Director: Patrick Flick.

1st rehearsal: August 21, 2007. Runs September 12 – October 7.

  • Antipholus of Syracuse, Antipholus of Ephesus: 30s. Comic leading men. Twin brothers.
  • Dromio of Syracuse, Dromio of Ephesus: 30s. Comic clowns. Twin brothers and servants to the Antipholuses.
  • Adriana: 30s. Wife of Antipholus of Ephesus. Bitter comic wife.
  • Luciana: 20s. Adriana’s sister. Sweet and nice.
  • Solinus: 40s +. Ruler of Ephesus.
  • Angelo: Age open. A gold jewelry dealer.
  • Balthasar: Age open. Friend of Antipholus of Ephesus.
  • Dr. Pinch: Age open. A strange doctor.

SHYLOCK by Gareth Armstrong. Directed by the author.

1st rehearsal: September 18, 2007. Runs October 10 – November 11.

Shylock: Multiple roles. Male, 30 – 50. Based on Shakespeare’s character. Role requires a very experienced versatile Shakespearean actor who can carry this one-man show.

A TUNA CHRISTMAS by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard. Director: Jim Helsinger.

1st rehearsal: November 12, 2007. Runs November 28 – December 23.

  • Two Actors: Both male, 30s – 50. Comics to play multiple characters in a small Texas town (e.g. sheriff, housewife, child, teenager, socialite, Tasty Creme waitresses, Humane Society worker, radio DJs, etc). Both need excellent comic abilities.

AS YOU LIKE IT by William Shakespeare. Director: Jim Helsinger.

1st rehearsal: December 11, 2007. Runs January 9 – February 3, 2008.

  • Duke Senior / Duke Frederick: Double role. Male, 40 - 60. Twin brothers, good and bad, played by the same actor.
  • Amiens: 30 – 50. Attending lord. Singer.
  • Jaques: 40 – 50. Attending lord. Bitter sad comic.
  • Oliver: 30s. Eldest son of Sir Rowland de Boys. Villain.
  • Orlando: 20s. Sir Rowland’s youngest son. Young leading man.
  • Adam: Old servant to Sir Rowland de Boys.
  • Touchstone: Court fool. Role requires a great Shakesepearan clown.
  • Corin: 60s. Shepherd. Wise older comic.
  • Rosalind: 20 - 30. Daughter of Duke Senior. Shakespearean lead.
  • Celia: 20 - 30. Daughter of Duke Frederick. Best friend of Rosalind

OPUS by Michael Hollinger. Director TBA

1st rehearsal: January 22, 2008. Runs February 6 – March 9, 2008.

Note: Actors are not required to play instruments, but knowledge of instruments is helpful.

  • Alan: 40s. Second violin in a string quartet. Charming; a bit of a womanizer. Steady; no desire to be the leader.
  • Dorian: Male, 40s. Viola. Passionate, unbalanced, difficult; disturbed but likeable.
  • Carl: 40s. Cello. Quiet, calm; the voice of reason.
  • Grace: Female, 25. Viola. Headstrong. Grounded. Attractive.

MACBETH by William Shakespeare. Director TBA.

1st rehearsal: March 11, 2008. Runs April 2 – 27, 2008.

  • Duncan: 50 - 60. King of Scotland.
  • Malcolm: 20 – 30.Duncan’s son.
  • Macbeth: 35 – 45. General in the King's army.
  • Banquo: 35 – 45. General in the King's army.
  • Lady Macbeth: 30 – 40. Macbeth’s wife. A deeply ambitious woman who lusts for power and position.
