Playlab Premiere

Join us this season for the first fully produced product of the PlayLab program. Originally read in two parts during our 99-00 Season, then performed as a PlayLab Workshop in the 00-01 season, we proudly bring you the PlayLab Premiere of:

Around the World in 80 Days

directed by New York Drama Desk Winner - Russell Treyz
Time is running out for Phileas Fogg. In this exciting family adventure, Fogg faces a frenetic race that will ultimately change his life. Can he truly make his outrageous gamble to go around the world in 80 days?

PlayLab Workshops

Just in time for the Halloween season, join us for workshops of two "spook-tacular" Victorian thrillers. In the spirit of our past Festival premieres -- Dracula: The Journal of Jonathon Harker, Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus, and Poe: Deep Into the Darkness Peering, we invite to have a hauntingly good time!

The Island of Dr. Moreau

directed by April Dawn Gladu

A one-man show starring Richard B. Watson (Macbeth, Gross Indecency), performed in the tradition of the Festival's world premiere productions of Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus, and Poe: Deep Into the Darkness Peering.

Performances: Thursday, October 18th at 7pm; Friday October 19th at 8pm; Saturday, October 20th at 8pm; and Sunday, October 21 at 2:00pm.
Plus!! - a bonus performance in Sanford at the Helen Stairs Theatre on Saturday, October 27th at 8pm. Sponsored by United Arts.
Tickets: $10, general admission - limited seating of 60, so reserve early!

 

Poe: Spirits of the Dead

directed by Kathleen Brant

The spirit of Poe's stories are interpreted by four writers who bring a creative perspective to these tales of terror performed by a cast of six.

Performances: Thursday, October 25th at 7pm; Friday October 26th at 8pm; Saturday, October 27th at 8pm; and Sunday, October 28 at 2:00pm.
Tickets: $10, general admission - limited seating of 60, so reserve early!



PlayLab Readings

What will our next workshops and PlayLab premieres be? Come to a free reading and express your opinion! Be a part of the process by coming to a PlayLab Reading. All Readings occur on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 pm and are performed at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. All readings are free.
